Bride Valley Wins Gold at Prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from the vineyard -  Bride Valley Brut Reserve 2018 has been awarded a Gold Medal at the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in London.

Scoring an impressive 96 points out of 100 in the Champagne & Sparkling Wines category, our Brut Reserve stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in the world - matching the score of France’s renowned Piper-Heidsieck and coming just one point shy of the highest-rated sparkling wine in the entire competition.

This exceptional result places Bride Valley among the global elite, with only 2% of entries earning a coveted Gold. As the judges described, our award-winning 2018 Brut Reserve is a “gastronomic wine, opening with a plush bouquet of orchard fruits and a gentle nuttiness… and on the palate, vibrant citrus and green apple with brioche.”

Crafted in the traditional method, our Brut Reserve is made from 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay, harvested in 2018 and aged for five years on the lees. It’s an elegant, expressive sparkling wine that showcases the very best of what Dorset’s chalky soils and cool climate can produce.

But that’s not all. We’re also celebrating Silver Medals for both our Dorset Crémant and Blanc de Blancs 2018, further reinforcing Bride Valley’s position as one of England’s premier sparkling wine producers.

“The competition champions the best wines from around the world, and to receive such accolades from such a tough panel of judges is a testament to the quality of the grapes we grow here in West Dorset - and the exceptional winemaking happening in our corner of the country,” says Nikki Gallagher, Commercial Director at Bride Valley.

With English sparkling wine continuing to gain global recognition, these awards are a proud moment not just for us, but for all of Dorset.

“We are proud to be producing exceptional wines here at Bride Valley, and these results are proof that English Sparkling is now on-par with the top  houses internationally. We hope these medals encourage more people to drink English and support their local vineyards,” Nikki adds.
